In more than 20 years of practice Polhemus Savery DaSilva Architects Builders (PSD) has mastered the art of designing and constructing beloved homes inspired by coastal southern New England. Released by Images Publishing in 2016, their recent book, Living Where Land Meets Sea features 35 homes that showcase a diverse work synthesizing influences from Shingle Style, Modernist, coastal New England vernacular and other historic architecture into broadly appealing yet intellectually charged homes. PSD’s custom homes are created using an integrated design and construction process that balances the art of architecture, the craft of construction and the needs of clients. Living Where Land Meets Sea is Images’ third book on the thoughtful, creative, timeless work of PSD. The other two books are Architecture of the Cape Cod Summer and Shingled Houses in the Summer Sun. At this speaker series event, Peter Polhemus discussed the rewards and challenges of designing and building where land meets sea and the power of integration.
